Sisters Act, Priests React

The Lipa City Fiesta Executive Committee in cooperation with the Parish of St. Sebastian staged a concert entitled "Sisters Act, Priests Re-act: A Celebration of Life..." at the Lipa City Youth and Cultural Center last January 10, 2009. The concert featured song and dance renditions by the Missionary Catechists of the Sacred Heart (MCSH), led by their dynamic Mother General, Sr. Julie Micosa, MCSH and the "Anim-Eh", a group of six singing diocesan priests. The concert is part of a series of week-long festivities that will culminate in the celeberation of the city fiesta on January 20.

The fundraising event drew a crowd which is a mixture of religious and lay spectators headed by Lipa's Archbishop, His Excellency, Ramon C. Arguelles, City Mayor Oscar L. Gozos, and Fr. Ernesto Mandanas, Jr., rector of the St. Sebastian Cathedral. Representatives from the various institutes of consecrated life in the city were also present. The concert also featured intermission numbers by guest priest performers.

Beneficiaries of the activity are the MCSH sisters (for the construction of their chapel) and the St. Francis de Sales Minor Seminary. Aside from generating funds for the MCSH and the SFS Minor Seminary, the concert also intended to become an alternative vocation promotion campaign to instill the importance of nurturing the seeds of religious vocation in the heart of today's youth.
